About Rochelle This Week

You know what they say about Geminis: "If you don't like them, wait a week, they'll change."

Rochelle is, theoretically, a functioning adult, but don't judge her just by the fact that she holds down a job alone. In fact, don't judge her by adult standards at all! You can review some of her quirks and absurdities and decide for yourself:

  • Recovering crap-o-holic fighting a severe case of packratism
  • Genetically inherited indifference to sanitation issues
  • Spells "adult" A-D-O-L-T
  • Shocked when people (i.e. fools) treat her like an adult
  • Feels pressured into having her own "career" by her husband and his freakish workaholic nature
  • Childish use of grad school as an excuse to avoid corporate ladder
While Rochelle is much more of a "living in the present, looking to the future" sort of chick, several milestone events have occurred which have sent her into a tizzy (in men this is might called a mid-life crisis):
  • Her 20th High School reunion (I remember as a youth my aunt talking about her 20 year HS reunion and thinking "wow, I wonder what the world will be like when I'm that old!") and,
  • Even though it is 2 years away, the big 4-0 is starting to LOOM. Could my 40s possibly be as good or better than my 30s or is it all downhill from here?
  • Realization that there are now a whole range of clothing styles that are now "too young" for her to wear.

Rochelle's career path looks more like the "Chutes and Ladders" board game than Michael's straight arrow path. While her resume implies that it makes her a well rounded jack-of-all-trades, you have to admit its kinda wacky. Although each transition made sense at the time...

  • self-employed seamstress
  • store manager
  • paralegal
  • corporate drone
  • database management & reporting
  • corporate archivist

...all of which were excellent use of her Latin American Studies degree.

Likes -- Anything that faciliates her enjoyment of life; cooking, reading cookbooks, biographies, history, location history, San Francisco, travel, shopping for crap, buying crap, manicures, pedicures, facials, massages.

Loves -- Her husband; a constant feed of information, the quirkier the better; freaks, watching freaks, talking to freaks, discovering the inner freak of otherwise seemingly normal people.

Dislikes -- Boring people, conformists.

Greatest fear -- Becoming a boring conformist.
